New Novocastrians

Working in Newcastle, I have observed the property market go from strength to strength. For many years, it was my pleasure to work with buyers primarily from Newcastle and occasionally Sydney, however, over the last few years, there has been a significant shift in the market. I am now regularly speaking with clients from all corners of the globe.

Who is buying in Newcastle?

One of the biggest trends I have noticed in the Newcastle market in recent years is interest from ex-pats moving back home after years out of the country. I am currently speaking with a client who has been living in Hong Kong for work and almost weekly I have an email from an international client, predominantly from the United Arab Emirates, the UK, Asia and the US.

That is not to say that all International clients are ex-pats, I have regular interest from people who are moving to Australia for the first time. It is encouraging to know that people all over the world are realising that Newcastle, Australia is a great place to live!

Why the attention?

With the significant changes currently happening in Newcastle, it is no surprise that word is spreading across oceans about the idyllic lifestyle the city offers. Events such as the Coates Hire V8 Supercars are providing massive amounts of exposure and presenting our city in the best light possible. Newcastle can be seen splashed across the cover of magazines all over the country this week in the lead up to the Supercars.

Due to the economic and social rebirth currently taking place in Newcastle, there is a wealth of new employment opportunities. One industry playing a major role in this is Education. Developments such as the University of Newcastle’s $95 million New Space Campus, a $3.8 million injection into Newcastle TAFE and the announcement that Japan’s Nihon University will build its first Australian campus in Newcastle, will create thousands of jobs. This influx of new employees will ensure the Newcastle property market will stay strong for years to come.

Welcome better

This spike in interest from overseas markets means that Newcastle homes are hot property. We will see land and property value remain strong as people continue to buy into the city.  We welcome the influx of new Novocastrians and we are happy to share our beautiful city. Welcoming new Novocastrians means more diversity for Newcastle. New and fresh ideas are spreading throughout the city as leaders from other cities and countries see the opportunity Newcastle has to offer. We look forward to the future of Newcastle as we watch it grow.
