Merewether and Beyond, My Market Insights

Newcastle has seen rapid change and growth over the last few years and I see this reflected in the property market. It is exciting to work in such a dynamic and progressive market and I look forward to connecting with clients, across Newcastle, to achieve a better outcome for their home.

I grew up on Mitchell and Janet street in Merewether with mum, dad and my 6 siblings. My entire family still live in or around Merewether. It is for this reason that I love helping local families and their children buy and sell in Merewether. I am not the only one who loves the suburb, it has seen very significant price growth, over 20 per cent in the last year.  I have seen properties that were sold two years ago, recording increases of up to $600,000 in two years. Not only are the prices increasing, the homes are selling quick! I often have properties selling within 14 days of being listed and many being sold before they even hit the market.

Whilst my heritage lies in Merewether, I enjoy the challenge of selling homes throughout Newcastle. Inner city suburbs such as Cooks Hill and Hamilton are attracting significant interest from Sydneysiders who are looking to maintain an urban lifestyle, but at nearly half the price and with all the added benefits of the Newcastle lifestyle.  I recently heard someone who moved here from Sydney refer to Newcastle as the, ‘Ten Minute Town’. I think this moniker is perfect because it encapsulates the convenience and small town vibe of Newcastle.

Family friendly suburbs such as Adamstown Heights and New Lambton are garnering a large amount of interest from young families who welcome the chance to live within walking distance of schools, parks, cycleways and shopping centres. A new price ceiling of $1.6 million was recently set in Adamstown Heights and it shows how sought after these suburbs are. I predict price growth will continue in these suburbs as young families seek convenience.

I enjoy linking the right buyer to the right suburb to ensure that they purchase the home of their dreams.
