Is a buyer's market bad for sellers?

Currently properties for sale outnumber purchasers ready and willing to buy them...a classic buyer's market. Depressing news? Not necessarily. Over 90% of buyers are upwardly mobile. Over the last few years we've heard what a better return shares are than property and we've all heard the stories at dinner parties of people investing in the stock market and marking huge profits.

I wonder how that stands now. I wonder if the same people are telling dinner stories of how their share portfolio has decreased by a third or more in recent times and how their home has actually increased in value even if only moderately. Interest rates increase and warnings of more on the way. Does that spell doom and gloom for the real estate market? Not at all.

Analysts put our market at the bottom of the cycle after limited or small growth over the last few years.
