Community Vibes and Stunning Scenery- the Many Reasons Why We Love Merewether

Did you hear that our humble Merewether Beach recently beat out all other beaches in Australia to be crowned “Best City Beach”.

We weren’t surprised by the news because it’s not just the gorgeous coastline that makes Merewether so special, it’s the friendly people, the local businesses supporting each other and the proximity to all that Newcastle has to offer. Watch the video below to see why Novocastrians love Merewether so much.

If the video didn’t convince you that it’s a great spot to live or visit, we have compiled a list of our favourite Merewether gems so that you can get out and explore this amazing suburb! Read on to find out the best that Merewether has to offer.

Some call them the “Stairs of Death” but the Merewether stairs are a favourite spot for locals to get their daily dose of exercise. Whether you are running, walking or lunging the stairs, you will be sure to feel the burn! If you’re brave enough, you’ll find them located just above the Merewether Baths.
