Waratah

Waratah includes the area known as Waratah West. The suburbs are residential with easy access to Newcastle city and surrounding suburbs. There are many parks and resverse to choose from in the area, with Braye Park located in Waratah West. The park provides views of the city, walking areas and picnic facilities

There are many schools and child care facilties to choose from in the area and the closest library is the Newcastle Region Library branch located at Mayfield.

Waratah has good access to public transport facilities. The suburb is served well by buses linking to the University and the city. Waratah Village provides the area with a large supermarket and Kmart. The village is also home to a number of mixed businesses such as a video store, bakery and bottle shop.
