Broadmeadow is the geographic centre of Newcastle city, its main commercial hub is located at the “Nineways”, named because of the number of roads converging there.

The population is changing, with the suburb becoming increasingly attractive for young families. The Hunter School of Performing Arts is located on Lambton Road and the local high school is located on Chatham Road. Two local branches of the regional library are easily located in the suburbs of Hamilton and Adamstown which are only a short drive away.

Broadmeadow’s commercial centre is located at nineways with shops and small businesses servicing the area, Broadmeadow is located a short distance to Hamilton’s commercial district and Westfield Kotara.

Broadmeadow has a lot to offer people of all age’s with its many churches, and entertainment facilities which include, Newcastle entertainment centre which you can see most the international and national acts that visit the area, and the Newcastle showground which hosts the local Markets and other community bases activities.

Broadmeadow Racecourse which regularly hosts horse racing events and the Newcastle Paceway which hosts the local trotting meets, just behind this you will find the local Putt Putt golf and Go Karting facilities.

The area also includes Energy Australia Stadium which is the home of the Newcastle Knights and Newcastle Jets soccer team, the International Sports Centre is located just beside this facility, and the area also includes a skate park, tennis courts, basketball stadium and bowls facilities and many local parks to enjoy your weekends in.

Broadmeadow is well situated for public transport with a high frequency bus service and is the home to the main inter-regional railway station, servicing Newcastle and the north-south NSW railway line. Westpac Rescue Helicopter service also finds its home in Broadmeadow.
