The Birmingham Gardens area was first subdivided in the 1930’s. Today, residents include a majority of aged and over 55’s along with a number of university students renting near the university, with this in mind most of the dwellings in the area are separate houses and only a few townhouses and villas are your housing options.

Birmingham Gardens is well situated for public transport with a high frequency bus service running due to the closeness of the university, there is also a cycle way which links up Newcastle and neighboring suburbs.
